On May 6th, 2021, Tippet Rise streamed the JACK Quartet’s 2019 performance.
We hope you will enjoy this virtual concert which looks back to our fourth season at Tippet Rise Art Center and a performance by the extraordinary JACK Quartet. The Boston Globe called the quartet “superheroes of the new music world.’ The Washington Post said they are “the go-to quartet for contemporary music, tying impeccable musicianship to intellectual ferocity and a take-no-prisoners sense of commitment.” It’s natural, then, that these champions of new music should perform works by the composer John Luther Adams, including the world premiere of Lines Made By Walking (String Quartet No. 5), which was commissioned by Tippet Rise and which Adams began composing while in residence at the art center in 2018.
Program:
JOHN LUTHER ADAMS: The Wind In High Places
ADAMS: Lines Made By Walking (String Quartet No. 5) (Tippet Rise commission)
Filmed at the Olivier Music Barn on August 3, 2019
