Fall Happenings and The Letter x Tippet Rise

September 16, 2024

With the conclusion of the 2024 summer season, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the visiting musicians, volunteers, seasonal teammates, organizational collaborators, and culinary partners for their many contributions.

This year the art center is reopening the first two weekends of October for hiking and biking, allowing guests to take advantage of the cooler temperatures and changing colors of the season. Advance registration is required, and reservations are free of charge.

Tippet Rise remains active throughout the year. We host education programs at the art center and outreach programs at schools, libraries, senior living centers, and community centers throughout Stillwater and Carbon counties and beyond, for participants of all ages. Recording projects continue to be an essential program at Tippet Rise, and we look forward to sharing new albums, performance films, and concert footage from some of the incredible artists who joined us this past year.

The Letter x Tippet Rise
Artists who visit Tippet Rise during the winter oftentimes remark that the landscape offers a sense of stillness and tranquility like no other. To share a greater sense of this feeling, the art center is collaborating with Caroline Joan Peixoto, a Montana-based writer and the co-founder and director of the nonprofit River Arts & Books on a special project called ‘The Letter x Tippet Rise.’

For the past several years, Caroline has shared her creativity through writings and intricately designed hand-mailed letters, which she sends quarterly. Anyone who has been on the receiving end of one of these envelopes knows that Caroline pours her heart and soul into every word and illustration she shares. As a special gift to friends of Tippet Rise, Caroline is creating a monthly, digital version of The Letter which serves to “read the landscape” at Tippet Rise from November 2024 – April 2025. Each edition will be filled with a variety of writings, stories, photography, sounds, and video – all inspired by the rugged land and its natural inhabitants.
